## Proven 32mm Sliding-Head Platform
The CITIZEN Cincom A32-VII was developed to extend the productive range of the A-Series into 32mm bar work while retaining the speed, accuracy and one-hit machining capability associated with Citizen sliding-head technology.
Citizen's technical literature specifies a maximum machining diameter of Ø32mm and a maximum machining length of 320mm without re-chucking. This makes the A32-VII particularly well suited to longer, more complex components as well as conventional high-volume bar work.
The machine uses a synchronously driven guide bush, supporting the material close to the cutting point. This is a major advantage when machining long or slender components where dimensional control, concentricity and surface finish are critical.
## 7-Axis Configuration
The A32-VII is a true 7-axis machine with X1, Y1, Z1, X2, Z2, C1 and C2 axes. This architecture allows simultaneous front and back machining, enabling multiple operations to be overlapped and reducing non-cutting time. Complex components can be turned, drilled, milled, cross-drilled and back-worked in one production cycle, reducing secondary operations and component handling.
## Main Spindle
Citizen's factory specification for the A32-VII main spindle includes:
• Maximum machining diameter: Ø32mm
• Maximum machining length without re-chucking: 320mm
• Maximum spindle speed: 8,000 rpm
• Full C-axis spindle indexing
• C-axis indexing resolution: 0.001°
• Built-in spindle motor: 5.5 / 7.5kW
The combination of a built-in spindle motor and rigid spindle construction gives the A32-VII strong cutting performance across both productive roughing and accurate finishing operations.
## Sub Spindle & Back Working
The opposed sub spindle allows completed front-end operations to be transferred automatically for secondary machining.
Factory specification includes:
• Maximum sub-spindle machining diameter: Ø32mm
• Maximum workpiece protrusion length: 150mm
• Maximum sub-spindle speed: 8,000 rpm
• Full C-axis spindle indexing
• C-axis indexing resolution: 0.001°
• Built-in sub-spindle motor: 2.2 / 3.7kW
This allows extensive rear-face drilling, tapping, milling and finishing to be completed while machining continues at the main spindle, helping to balance cycle time and maximise productivity.
## Tooling Capability
The standard A32-VII tooling arrangement provides a highly flexible combination of static and driven tooling. Citizen's original technical specification lists:
• 6 turning tool positions
• 4 drilling tools for front and back machining
• 4 rotary tools on the vertical holder
• Driven-tool speed up to 5,000 rpm
• 5-station back-machining drill holder
• 4 driven stations within the back-machining block
• 16mm turning-tool shank section
• Ø25.4mm tool-holder/quill capacity
• ER16 / ER20 drill quills
• ER16 / ER11 rotary tooling
Depending on tooling configuration, Citizen promoted the A32-VII with capacity for up to 27 tools, giving the machine substantial flexibility for complex multi-operation components.
## Driven Tooling & Y-Axis Machining
The A32-VII's Y-axis and driven tooling make it considerably more capable than a conventional turning-only machine. Operations can include cross drilling, off-centre drilling, milling, slotting, flats and keyways, rigid tapping, front-end drilling, back-working operations and C-axis positioned machining.
The ability to combine these processes in one setup can significantly reduce work-in-progress, secondary machining and manual handling.
## High-Speed Axis Movement
Citizen designed the A32-VII around short cycle times and reduced idle movement. Factory rapid traverse figures are 32m/min on X1 and 45m/min on Z1, Y1, Z2 and X2.
Citizen's Streamline Control uses motion-overlap functions to begin the next axis movement while the current movement is completing where appropriate, helping reduce wasted non-cutting time.
## Mitsubishi M70 / Citizen Streamline Control
The A32-VII generation uses a Mitsubishi M70 CNC integrated with Citizen's Streamline Control technology. Factory control functions include multi-axis simultaneous machining, tool-radius compensation, repetitive cycles, deep-drilling cycles, constant surface speed, user macro capability, main and sub-spindle C-axis control, spindle synchronisation, synchronous tapping, milling interpolation, tool-life management, interference monitoring and background editing.
The control platform was specifically developed to improve block-processing speed and reduce idle time, making the machine well suited to production work where cycle-time consistency matters.
## Iemca Boss 332-E Magazine Bar Feeder
This machine is supplied with an Iemca Boss 332-E 3.2m magazine bar feeder. A magazine bar feeder transforms the A32-VII into a more complete automated production cell, allowing batches to run for extended periods with reduced operator intervention.
## LNS MH500 Swarf Conveyor
The fitted LNS MH500 swarf conveyor automatically removes chips from the machining area and supports longer production runs with less manual swarf handling. For a sliding-head machine operating continuously from bar, reliable chip evacuation is an important part of maintaining stable production conditions.
## Mist Control 850 Extraction
The machine is fitted with a Mist Control 850 extraction unit. Effective mist extraction helps remove airborne coolant mist from the enclosed machining area, contributing to a cleaner production environment and making the package more suitable for continuous production use.
## Fire Suppression
A dedicated fire suppression system is included with the machine. This is a valuable addition to a production sliding-head installation, particularly where the machine is intended to run for extended periods or during lightly attended production.
## Machine Construction
The A32-VII was designed with rigidity and production reliability in mind. Citizen's original literature highlights roller linear guides on all travelling axes, centrally lubricated ball screws and guideways, air sealing around the guide-bush and spindle bearing areas, and a rigid spindle design intended to support both high-speed machining and heavier cutting loads.
Factory machine dimensions are approximately 2,520mm long x 1,250mm wide x 1,815mm high, with a 1,050mm centre height and machine weight of approximately 3,300kg. Dimensions exclude the bar feeder and ancillary equipment.
## Ideal Applications
The CITIZEN A32-VII is well suited to aerospace, automotive, medical, hydraulics and pneumatics, precision connectors and fittings, electronics, defence, motorsport, general subcontract turned parts and high-volume precision bar work.
Its combination of 32mm capacity, main and sub-spindle C axes, Y-axis machining, live tooling and extensive back-working capability allows sophisticated parts to be completed in a single automatic cycle.
## Why This Machine?
For manufacturers wanting proven 32mm sliding-head capacity, this A32-VII offers a strong specification without the capital cost and lead time of buying a new production cell.
The package combines a proven CITIZEN A32-VII platform, 32mm bar capacity, 7-axis simultaneous machining capability, main and sub-spindle C axes, Y-axis and driven tooling, extensive front and back-working capability, Iemca magazine bar feeding, LNS automatic swarf management, mist extraction, fire suppression and good overall condition.
